Turning Point Dr. David Jeremiah - Wednesday, October 17, 2018 - It Floats
And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. 1 John 3:3
In 1879, soap maker Harley Procter struggled to find a name for his company’s new line of soap. His Bible reading took him to Psalm 45:8: “All Your garments are scented with myrrh and aloes and cassia, out of the ivory palaces.” Inspired by that verse, Procter chose the name Ivory. People loved the soap because it floated in the bathwater; and in 1895, its famous slogan was rolled out: “99 44/100% Pure,” based on the results of an independent laboratory.

The God of Ivory Palaces expects our minds to be 100 percent pure, for He is absolutely holy. But what if an independent laboratory conducted an analysis of your mind? Would it be 99 percent pure, or 75 percent pure, or 50 percent pure? Controlling our thought lives is something all Christians must battle. And our greatest weapon is the sword of the Spirit. When we saturate our minds with the Word of the Lord, we have the tools to overcome the temptations and troubles that crowd into our lives.
When our souls are filled with memorized Bible verses or with passages we’re pondering, we become unsinkable in life. Let God’s Word dwell in you richly today.
